Kastar NP-FM50 AC Wall Charger

This Kastar AC wall charger replaces original Sony power adapters for a long list of Handycam, Cyber-shot and Digital8 models. It accepts the NP-FM and NP-QM series lithium-ion batteries used in camcorders such as the CCD-TRV and DCR-DVD ranges. The unit ships as a single charger without a battery included.

Foldable plug eases storage and installation

The foldable flat plug folds flush against the body so the charger fits in tight bags or accessory pouches. Installation is simply connecting the charger to a mains socket and sliding the battery onto the contacts; a red LED shows charging and a green LED signals standby or full charge. The only common issue is inserting the battery backwards, which prevents the LEDs from lighting.

100 to 240 volt input suits global mains

The charger operates on AC 100 to 240 volts at 50 to 60 hertz, delivering a fixed DC 8.4 volt 600 milliamp output. This voltage and current are tailored to the compatible Sony packs, so the unit cannot charge higher-capacity or different-chemistry cells. Users needing simultaneous multi-bay charging or faster rates will require a separate solution.
