Kastar NP-FM50 AC Wall Charger

The Kastar NP-FM50 is a compact AC wall charger designed to replenish Sony NP-FM and NP-QM series lithium-ion batteries. It suits photographers and videographers who need a lightweight replacement or spare charger for compatible Handycam, Cyber-shot and DSLR-A100 equipment.

Input Voltage Range 100-240V AC

The charger accepts a wide AC input of 100 to 240 volts at 50 to 60 hertz, delivering a regulated DC output of 8.4 volts at 600 milliamps. This specific output profile determines whether the unit will correctly charge your NP-FM50, NP-FM55H, NP-FM70, NP-FM90 or related battery packs without over-voltage risk.

Thermal Behaviour During Extended Charging

A red LED illuminates while the battery is accepting current and switches to green once the pack reaches full charge or enters standby. The foldable flat plug and small 3 by 2 by 1 inch enclosure allow the unit to run continuously on a desk or power strip without blocking adjacent outlets during long overnight charging sessions.

Questions about this item

What does the 8.4 V 600 mA output mean when I plug in a Sony NP-FM50 battery?

It delivers a steady 8.4 volts at up to 600 milliamps, which is the standard charge profile for NP-FM50 and compatible InfoLithium packs.

The charger accepts AC 100–240 V 50–60 Hz — what does that cover in practice?

It works on mains power worldwide without a voltage converter, automatically handling both 50 Hz and 60 Hz grids.

How much space does the 3 by 2 by 1 inch unit with its foldable flat plug need in a bag?

The charger measures roughly 3 × 2 × 1 inches and the plug folds flat, so it fits in a small accessory pocket or camera bag compartment.
