Secure Desk Anchor

The Kensington K64612WW Grommet Hole Anchor provides a fixed lock point through the standard grommet opening found in many desks and work surfaces. It preserves the hole’s original cable-routing function while adding a secure attachment for a cable lock. Installation requires no tools and takes only seconds. The gray finish blends with typical office furniture.

Cable Routing Preserved

The anchor’s design maintains the grommet’s ability to pass power and data cables through the desk surface. Users can route laptop chargers, monitor leads or peripheral cords without removing the security device. This dual-purpose layout keeps workstations tidy while the lock remains engaged. No adhesive or permanent modification of the furniture is needed.

Single Anchor Point

The unit supplies one connector for a compatible Kensington cable lock, limiting protection to a single device at a time. Buyers who need to secure multiple laptops or peripherals simultaneously will require additional anchors. It is not suited for desks that lack a standard grommet hole or for surfaces where drilling is prohibited.

Questions about this item

Will the anchor's gray finish wear or need replacing over time?

The anchor is a solid gray metal piece with no moving parts or coating that degrades, so it does not require periodic replacement under normal office use.

What stops the anchor from pulling through the grommet hole during a theft attempt?

The 2.4 by 3.8 inch base plate sits on top of the grommet while the 3.25 inch tall stem passes through, distributing force across the desk surface rather than relying on the hole edge alone.

Does the anchor add noticeable heat or noise when a laptop lock cable runs through it all day?

It is a passive metal bracket with no electronics, fans or power draw, so it generates zero heat and makes no sound regardless of how long the cable remains attached.
