6.8" WVGA Capacitive Touch Receiver

The Kenwood DMX809S is a 6.8-inch digital multimedia receiver built around a WVGA capacitive touch panel. It integrates wired and wireless Apple CarPlay plus Android Auto and Android Auto Wireless for smartphone mirroring. A built-in HD Radio tuner and USB mirroring for Android expand entertainment options. The package includes the CMOS-230LP rear-view camera with a licence-plate mounting kit.

Drivers Wanting Wireless Phone Integration

This unit suits motorists who want both wired and wireless smartphone projection without replacing the factory dash opening. The three camera inputs support front, rear and blind-spot views for parking assistance. Buyers needing a larger high-definition display or a mechless design with physical volume knob should consider other models. The 13-band EQ and digital time alignment appeal to listeners who tune their own sound stage.

Build-Ready with Camera and High-Voltage Pre-Outs

Three 5.0V pre-outs feed external amplifiers directly, reducing the need for line-output converters. The CMOS-230LP camera supplies a 128-degree horizontal and 103-degree vertical view through a 1/3.6-inch colour CMOS sensor rated at over 325,000 pixels. Its 24.5-foot harness reaches most vehicle lengths, while the waterproof housing handles illumination from 0.9 to 100,000 lux. The flexible mount base adapts to curved licence-plate surfaces.

Questions about this item

What car features does the 6.8" WVGA capacitive touch panel need to support Android Auto Wireless and wireless Apple CarPlay?

The receiver handles both wireless smartphone projections internally; the vehicle only needs a 12 V power supply and speaker wiring or the 5.0 V pre-outs for external amplifiers.

Will the CMOS-230LP camera's 128° horizontal and 103° vertical view angles work with my existing parking sensors?

The camera provides its own video feed to one of the three camera inputs; parking sensors operate independently and do not affect the 325,000-pixel image.

How do I confirm the HD Radio tuner and 13-band EQ are active after installation?

Tune to a local HD Radio station — the display shows the HD logo when digital audio locks — then play music and adjust a 13-band EQ slider to hear the change.
