Steam Deck upgrade drive

The KINGSMAN GAMING MP530 is an M.2 2230 NVMe SSD built for compact devices. It delivers 1TB of storage over a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface with NVMe 1.4 protocol. Sequential speeds reach 3400 MBps read and 3000 MBps write. Endurance is rated at 700TB TBW with a 1000000 hour MTBF.

Best for handhelds and thin laptops

This drive suits users upgrading a Steam Deck or similar small-form-factor systems that accept M.2 2230 modules. It is not suitable for laptops or desktops that only provide longer M.2 slots. Buyers needing a different physical length should look at other form factors.

The 2230 form factor decides fit

The single specification that determines compatibility is the M.2 2230 form factor. Only devices explicitly supporting this 30 mm length can install the drive. Verify your hardware manual before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will this M.2 2230 drive fit in my Steam Deck without an adapter?

Yes, the 2230 form factor matches the Steam Deck slot exactly and the PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 1.4 interface is natively supported.

Can I keep my older PCIe 3.0 motherboard and still reach the rated 3400 MBps read speed?

The drive runs at PCIe 3.0 x4, so an older PCIe 3.0 board will deliver the full sequential read performance of up to 3400 MBps.

How can I verify the SSD is healthy after installation?

Check SMART data for the 700 TBW endurance rating and confirm the drive reports NVMe 1.4 with sequential reads near 3400 MBps in a benchmark tool.
