What the cable does

This active adapter converts a DVI-D 24+1 male output to a 15-pin VGA male input. It supports video resolutions up to 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 without audio or HDCP. The 1m black cable connects PCs, laptops or graphics cards to monitors, projectors or HDTVs.

What the built-in chip changes

An integrated converter chip enables the single-direction DVI-D to VGA translation that a passive cable cannot achieve. It allows compatibility with DVI-D 24+1 sources while maintaining signal integrity up to the supported resolutions. The chip also permits use with DVI-I ports, but the adapter still only operates from digital DVI to analogue VGA.

Installation notes and common issues

Connect the DVI end to the source and the VGA end to the display; no driver installation is required on Windows XP through 10, Vista or Mac OS 8.6 and later.
