Connect HDMI devices to VGA displays
This active cable connects a desktop, laptop or other source with an HDMI male output to a monitor, projector or TV that accepts a VGA male input. The built-in converter chipset handles the signal change without extra adapters. Installation is plug-and-play.
Unidirectional HDMI-to-VGA only
The cable transmits video from an HDMI source to a VGA display and does not work in the reverse direction. It supports input formats of 480i, 576i, 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p at 60 Hz, and outputs up to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz over VGA.
No audio and limited device support
Audio is not carried, so a separate audio connection is required for sound. The cable is incompatible with Apple MacBook series, Mac mini, Apple TV, Sony PS3 and PS4, and Blu-ray players. Gold-plated connectors and a cotton-braided jacket improve durability.

Questions about this item
What does the 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz headline figure mean once the cable is in a real machine?
The cable carries a digital HDMI signal up to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz and converts it to an analogue VGA signal, so a 1080p monitor or projector shows the full resolution without extra adapters.
Which interface standard does the HDMI end use, and what does it cap in practice?
The HDMI male plug accepts 480i, 576i, 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p at 60 Hz, limiting the source to those formats before the built-in chipset converts them.
What does the cable physically need to fit or mount?
It needs a free HDMI port on the source and a free VGA port on the display; both ends are male, so no extra gender changers or screws are required beyond the VGA connector's thumbscrews.
