Powered bookshelf speaker pair with 8-inch woofers, Dolby Atmos, Dirac Live calibration, and HDMI ARC connectivity
The Klipsch The Nines II in Red Oak is a 2.1 channel powered speaker pair built for listeners who want a complete stereo system with immersive audio from a single box. Each cabinet uses MDF with genuine wood veneer and houses an 8 inch Jet Cerametallic woofer plus a 1 inch titanium LTS vented tweeter on a Tractrix horn. The pair delivers a maximum output of 107 dB and a frequency response of 31 Hz to 25 kHz. Dirac Live room correction and a supplied calibration microphone tune the sound to the room automatically.
This system replaces a traditional receiver plus passive speakers and adds Dolby Atmos playback with virtual height channels, HDMI ARC connectivity, and wireless stereo linking between the two cabinets. The jump is worth it when you want fewer boxes, simpler cabling, and room-corrected sound without configuring a separate processor. Buyers who need more than two channels of discrete amplification or who require a dedicated subwoofer output for a third box will not find those connections here.
The HDMI ARC connection carries audio from a compatible TV and supports CEC control, but it is limited to the bandwidth and format support of the ARC specification rather than the newer eARC implementation. High-bitrate multi-channel formats that exceed ARC capacity will not pass through, so the speaker pair falls back to its internal Dolby Atmos virtual height processing instead of decoding the original object-based stream. Optical and coaxial digital inputs provide alternative paths but share similar bandwidth constraints.

Allow at least a few centimetres behind each cabinet so the rear-firing port can breathe; the enclosures are 14.8" deep and 17.9" high.
Connect the supplied calibration microphone to the USB-A port, launch the Dirac app, and run the measurement sweeps before adjusting EQ.
The microphone is a passive electret capsule; replace it only if the capsule is damaged or the plug becomes intermittent.
