Target frequency band

The Laird Technologies Y8963 is a gold anodized Yagi antenna built for the 896-970 MHz band. It delivers 8 dBi gain through a three-element array suited to fixed base-station installations. The N-Female connector provides a standard interface for coaxial feed lines.

Upgrade path

This antenna replaces lower-gain omnidirectional or dipole units when a site needs tighter focus and longer reach on the same frequency allocation. The jump is justified when interference rejection and link budget improvements outweigh the added aiming effort.

Installation fit

The internal matching network resists icing, detuning and corrosion, reducing maintenance visits on exposed masts. Gold anodizing adds surface durability without extra sealing steps. Mounting hardware and feed-line routing must be supplied separately to complete the installation.

Questions about this item

What mounting hardware is needed for the Y8963 yagi antenna?

The Y8963 is a base station yagi antenna; it requires a mast or tower bracket sized for its boom, which is not included with the antenna.

How is the N-Female connector attached to the feed line during installation?

Connect a coaxial cable terminated with an N-Male plug directly to the antenna's N-Female connector and tighten by hand plus a quarter turn with a spanner.

Will the gold anodized finish need re-coating to maintain performance?

The internal matching design will not ice up, detune, or corrode, so the gold anodized finish requires no re-coating for electrical performance.
