Connects a PC or laptop VGA output to a TV using S-Video or composite RCA inputs with a short 5-inch cable
This cable converts a VGA output into composite RCA or S-Video signals so a PC or laptop can feed a television that lacks a VGA input. It is intended for users with a graphics card that explicitly supports TV-Out and an older display that only accepts composite or S-Video connections.
The adapter does not generate a TV signal on its own; the source VGA port must provide TV-Out capability or no picture will appear. It passes standard-definition composite or S-Video only, so high-resolution content will be downscaled and fine text may be unreadable on the television.
Connect the VGA plug to the computer and the RCA or S-Video plugs to the television, then enable TV-Out in the graphics driver. The 5-inch length restricts placement, and the most frequent failure is attempting to use the cable with a VGA card that lacks the required TV-Out function.

The adapter is supplied as a single 5-inch black cable with a VGA plug on one end and both S-Video and three RCA sockets on the other; no alternative lengths or versions are offered.
It passes the graphics card's TV-out signal to a television through either the S-Video or composite RCA jack, giving standard-definition video only.
The 4-pin S-Video port carries an analogue SD signal, typically capping output at 480i or 576i depending on the television system.
