Scale and subject

This 1/72 scale diecast model replicates the Ilyushin IL-2 Shturmovik flown by Lieutenant V. T. Aleksuhin of the 167th Guards Air Regiment, 617 ShAP in 1943. It is made from diecast metal with plastic parts for a heavy, realistic feel. The model arrives in the manufacturer's original unopened packaging and includes a display stand.

Upgrade path

The model replaces smaller-scale or less-detailed representations of the same aircraft for collectors who need accurate panel lines, antennas and surface details. The jump is worth it when a true-to-scale exterior and officially licensed markings are required for a display focused on Soviet Air Force history. It is not for buyers who need opening hatches, movable control surfaces or interior cockpit detail.

Installation and issues

Installation consists of placing the finished model on the supplied stand; no assembly is required. The sealed construction means there are no openings to align or fragile antennas to attach. The main risk is damage to the pre-fitted antennas or panel-line paint during handling, so the model should be positioned once and moved as little as possible.
