Lenovo 100Gb QSFP28 Active Cable

This Lenovo active optical cable carries 100Gb Ethernet over a QSFP28 interface. It spans 32.81 ft and is built for high-speed links between switches, servers or storage arrays in the data centre.

Active Optical Design

The active construction integrates optical transceivers at each QSFP28 end, removing the bulk and reach limits of passive copper. It delivers the full 100Gb rate across the full 32.81 ft length without external power adapters.

Suited for 100Gb QSFP28 Links

Network teams needing a factory-terminated 100Gb QSFP28 patch will find the length and connector match. Builders who require a different reach, a breakout fan-out or a passive copper alternative should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the active optical modules inside this 100Gb QSFP28 cable need replacing after a certain period?

The cable uses integrated active optical modules that are not user-serviceable; if a module fails the entire 32.81 ft assembly is replaced.

What limits sustained throughput on this 100Gb QSFP28 active optical cable during long transfers?

The link is rated for 100Gb per second across four lanes, so the first limit under sustained use is the 100Gb line rate itself.

How much heat does this 32.81 ft active QSFP28 cable generate when running continuously in a rack?

Active optical cables convert electrical signals to light on-board, producing only modest warmth that normal rack airflow dissipates without extra cooling.
