Buyers needing portability and legacy ports

This unit suits professionals who want a lightweight chassis, a docking connector and three USB ports for office applications or light multimedia editing. Buyers who want a touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, discrete graphics or user-upgradeable memory beyond 16 GB should look elsewhere.

16 GB soldered memory limit

The platform supports a maximum of 16 GB DDR3L, so the installed capacity cannot be increased. If your workload demands more RAM, this laptop will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

How much heat and fan noise does the Core i5-5300U produce when the laptop runs all day?

The 2.30 GHz dual-core processor and integrated graphics keep thermal output modest; the internal fan stays quiet during typical office workloads.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the USB ports and docking connector?

Three USB ports accept standard Type-A devices such as mice, keyboards or flash drives; the docking connector works with compatible ThinkPad docks for extra video and Ethernet.

Will the SATA 2.5-inch 512 GB SSD and 16 GB DDR3L memory work alongside older drives or modules I want to keep?

The SSD uses a SATA 2.5-inch interface and the memory is DDR3L SODIMM at the 16 GB maximum; both match common legacy laptop standards for easy reuse.
