Compact business desktop

The Lenovo IdeaCentre Tower 8 is a small-form-factor desktop built around an AMD Ryzen 7 250 processor with eight cores and sixteen threads. It ships with 32GB of DDR5 SO-DIMM memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD running Windows 11 Pro. The integrated AMD Radeon 780M graphics handle everyday productivity and light media work.

Connectivity and expansion

The chassis provides two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.2 Type-C port, HDMI and DisplayPort video outputs, a 3.5mm combo audio jack and a single RJ-45 Ethernet port. Wireless networking uses WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. A bundled USB port expander adds extra Type-A connections for peripherals. The 260W internal power supply limits the system to low-profile components.

Thermals and power

The 260W power supply and integrated graphics keep power draw modest during typical office workloads. The small 11.5 by 13.5 by 3.5 inch enclosure relies on the stock cooler to manage the Ryzen 7 250, which can boost up to 5.1GHz. Fan noise remains low for general business tasks but may become audible under sustained multi-core loads.

Questions about this item

What maximum data rate does the USB 3.2 Type-C port on this IdeaCentre Tower 8 support?

The USB 3.2 Type-C port runs at up to 5Gbps, matching the 5Gbps rating of the included Dockztorm USB hub.

What are the chassis dimensions and clearance needed for this small-form-factor tower?

The chassis measures 11.5 inches wide, 13.5 inches deep and 3.5 inches high, weighing 7.5lb, so allow a few extra centimetres around the vents for airflow.

How is the 32GB DDR5 memory installed, and which slot mistake should I avoid?

It ships as two 16GB SO-DIMMs filling both slots; if you upgrade later, do not leave one slot empty — populate both channels for full bandwidth.
