Purpose-built ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkBook 13s is a 13.0 inch laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8565U processor with Intel UHD Graphics 620. It ships with Linux Mint, 8GB of memory and a 2TB NVMe PCIe SSD. The gray aluminum chassis weighs 2.9 lbs and includes a backlit keyboard plus ThinkPad UltraNav touchpad.

Setup and common issues

The device arrives with the operating system pre-installed so initial configuration is limited to user account creation and updates. Bluetooth 4.1 pairs peripherals without extra drivers. The integrated graphics share system memory, so heavy multitasking may reduce available RAM for applications. A physical webcam cover is fitted and must be slid open before video calls.

Interface and storage limits

The 2TB NVMe drive uses a PCIe interface whose maximum throughput is set by the platform chipset rather than the drive alone. The full high definition IPS panel runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution and the hinges open to 180 degrees for flat collaboration. Three USB ports provide connectivity, with one USB Type-C supporting audio and video output.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the Intel Core i7-8565U is reaching its 4.6 GHz boost after setup?

Open a terminal and run a CPU frequency monitor while applying a heavy load; the readout should show the processor hitting 4.6 GHz on at least one core.

What comes in the box and what must I purchase separately?

The laptop, its power adapter and documentation are included; no docking station, external drive or additional memory modules are supplied.

Which version should I choose between the 8 GB memory and 2 TB NVMe configuration?

This model is offered only with 8 GB of soldered memory and a 2 TB NVMe PCIe SSD, so there is no alternative capacity to select.
