A compact business desktop with a six-core Intel i5-8500, 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB hard drive
The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q is a micro form factor desktop built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor running at 3.0 GHz with a 4.1 GHz turbo. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory, a 3.5-inch 1 TB hard drive, DVD-ROM drive, USB Wi-Fi and Bluetooth dongle, plus keyboard and mouse. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed for immediate deployment in business or home-office environments.
This unit replaces bulky small-form-factor or tower PCs where desk space is limited and noise must stay low. The 65 W hexa-core CPU delivers a clear jump over dual-core or early quad-core chips when running multiple browser tabs, Office apps, and light line-of-business software. The jump is worth it when you need six native threads and modern instruction sets without moving to a larger chassis or higher power envelope.
The 8 GB DDR4 configuration handles typical productivity workloads, video conferencing, and dozens of browser tabs; the board supports up to 32 GB for heavier multitasking or virtual machines. The 1 TB 3.5-inch hard drive stores years of documents and local backups, though sustained read and write speeds will lag behind solid-state alternatives when loading large datasets or booting the OS.

Other versions of this model
The Micro form-factor chassis fits on a desk or behind a monitor using Lenovo's Tiny VESA bracket (sold separately). No full-height expansion slots are present; only low-profile cards fit.
Remove the bottom cover, insert DDR4 UDIMM modules into the two 240-pin slots, then press firmly until the retention clips click — many forget to seat both clips.
The 3.5-inch 1 TB mechanical hard drive and the USB Wi-Fi/BT dongle are the only moving or external parts; plan to swap the drive for an SSD and keep a spare dongle.
