Compact SFF desktop for office workloads

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a small-form-factor desktop built around an 8th-generation Intel Core i7-8700 processor with six cores and twelve threads. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a dual-drive configuration that pairs a 256 GB M.2 SSD with a 1 TB SSD. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed, and a USB keyboard and mouse are included in the box.

Suited for general business and home-office use

This system handles everyday productivity, web browsing and multi-tasking without difficulty. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 drives standard office displays but is not intended for gaming, 3D rendering or GPU-accelerated workloads. The SFF chassis limits internal expansion, so buyers who need a discrete graphics card or additional full-height add-in cards should consider a larger form factor.

65 W hexa-core processor with 12 MB cache

The Core i7-8700 runs at a 3.20 GHz base frequency and can reach 4.60 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost, delivering six cores and twelve threads within a 65 W power envelope. This CPU choice determines the platform’s performance ceiling for both single-threaded responsiveness and multi-threaded throughput.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 256 GB M.2 SSD plus 1TB SSD configuration or a single larger drive?

The dual-drive layout places the operating system on the 256 GB M.2 SSD and keeps 1 TB of additional SSD space free for files and applications.

What does the 4.60 GHz turbo figure mean for everyday workloads?

The Core i7-8700 runs at 3.20 GHz base clock and can reach 4.60 GHz on active cores when thermal headroom allows, giving short bursts of extra speed for demanding tasks.

Does the SFF case limit graphics upgrades to low-profile cards?

The system uses integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 and the small-form-factor chassis only accepts low-profile expansion cards, so any discrete GPU must fit that height restriction.
