Compact Business Desktop

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q is a micro-form-factor desktop built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8700 hexa-core processor reaching 4.60 GHz with 12 MB cache. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 UDIMM memory, a 2.5" 1 TB SSD, DVD-ROM drive, USB keyboard and mouse, and Windows 11 Pro pre-installed. A USB Wi-Fi and Bluetooth dongle provides wireless connectivity. The tiny chassis suits office desks, reception counters or VESA mounts where space is at a premium.

Upgrade From Older SFF Systems

Replacing a larger small-form-factor tower with this unit reclaims desk space while moving from a dual- or quad-core CPU to six cores and twelve threads for smoother multitasking. The jump is worthwhile when daily workloads include multiple browser tabs, Office suites and line-of-business apps that benefit from higher turbo frequencies and the faster 1 TB SSD. Buyers who need discrete graphics, multiple internal drive bays or user-upgradeable graphics should look elsewhere.

Simple Deployment

The PC arrives fully assembled with the operating system activated, so first boot reaches the Windows desktop in minutes. Memory slots use standard 240-pin DDR4 UDIMM modules and the 2.5" drive bay is accessible after removing one side panel. The only common snag is the proprietary motherboard layout, which limits aftermarket cooler or power-supply swaps and prevents standard PCIe card installation.
