Compact business desktop

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a small-form-factor desktop built around an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8700 hexa-core processor running at 3.20 GHz with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.60 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2.5-inch 512 GB solid-state drive. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles display output. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed, and a USB keyboard and mouse are included in the box.

Upgrade from older office PCs

This system replaces ageing desktops that rely on dual-core or quad-core processors and mechanical hard drives. The six-core, twelve-thread i7-8700 and 512 GB SSD deliver a noticeable jump in multi-tasking responsiveness and boot speed for typical business workloads. The 65 W processor thermal design keeps power draw modest, making the switch worthwhile for fleets seeking better performance per watt without moving to a larger chassis.

Check your peripherals and expansion needs

Verify that your monitors use connections supported by the integrated graphics outputs on this specific model. The SFF case limits internal expansion to low-profile cards and the available DIMM slots, which support up to 32 GB of DDR4 memory. Ensure the included USB Wi-Fi dongle meets your network requirements, and confirm that any legacy PCI cards you still use are not required, as this form factor does not accommodate full-height add-in boards.

Questions about this item

What size drive bay and thickness does the M720s SFF case accept for the included 2.5" 512 GB SSD?

The SFF chassis uses a standard 2.5-inch bay for the 512 GB solid-state drive, so no 3.5-inch adapter is required.

Which memory slots and generation are used for the 8 GB DDR4 UDIMM, and what is the maximum supported capacity?

The 8 GB DDR4 UDIMM occupies one of two 240-pin DIMM slots; the board supports up to 32 GB total across both slots.

How is the wireless connectivity provided, and what part would need replacement if the USB dongle fails?

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are delivered through a USB dongle; if it stops working, only the dongle itself needs to be replaced.
