ThinkCentre M920s small-form-factor desktop

This Lenovo ThinkCentre M920s is a compact business desktop built around a six-core Intel Core i5 8500 running at 3.0 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed. The small chassis fits on a desk or behind a monitor where space is tight.

Build integration: ports, power and expansion

The system provides one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port, six USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports and two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports for peripherals. Video output uses one VGA and two DisplayPort connectors for multi-monitor setups. Gigabit Ethernet is onboard; wireless networking is not included. The 65 W processor is cooled by an internal air-cooling solution. No keyboard, mouse or optical drive are supplied.

Capacity and headroom: 16 GB DDR4, 256 GB NVMe

Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 handles typical office workloads, web browsing and light multitasking without paging. The 256 GB NVMe drive delivers fast boot and application load times but fills quickly with large media libraries or virtual-machine images. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 drives business displays but is not suited for 3D rendering or modern gaming. Buyers who need more storage or discrete graphics will need to add them separately.

Questions about this item

Does the 65 W CPU throttle under continuous multi-core workloads?

The Core i5-8500 has a 65 W base power rating; sustained all-core loads will sit at that level unless the chassis airflow is restricted.

How loud does the air-cooled chassis get during an all-day business workload?

The small-form-factor case uses a single air cooler; under steady office loads fan noise stays at a low office hum.

Which display cables or adapters do I need to connect my monitors?

The PC provides one VGA and two DisplayPort outputs; bring the matching cables or active adapters for HDMI/DVI screens.
