Mobile Workstation for Professionals

The 17.3-inch ThinkPad P17 Gen2 combines an 11th Generation Intel Core i7-11800H processor with 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD. An NVIDIA RTX A2000 GPU with 4GB GDDR6 drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS display at 300 nits. Windows 11 Pro and a 94Whr battery complete the package for designers and engineers.

Step Up from Integrated Graphics

This system replaces laptops that rely on CPU graphics or entry-level discrete cards. The 60W TGP RTX A2000 adds certified driver stability for CAD and 3D applications. The jump is worth it when ISV certification, 100% sRGB colour accuracy, or four external 4K displays at 60Hz become daily requirements.

Suited for Certified Workflows

Buyers who need ISV-certified performance, a fingerprint reader, IR camera, and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity in a 16.36 x 11.06-inch chassis will benefit. Those who prioritise ultra-light portability, higher screen refresh rates, or consumer gaming features should look at something else.

Questions about this item

Will the 17.3-inch 300-nit IPS panel fit in a standard 17-inch laptop sleeve?

The chassis measures 16.36 x 11.06 x 1.28 inches, so a sleeve sized for a traditional 17-inch workstation will accommodate it.

Which driver should I install first after a clean Windows 11 Pro reload on this ThinkPad P17 Gen2?

Run Lenovo System Update; it detects the i7-11800H platform and installs the chipset, RTX A2000 60W TGP graphics, Thunderbolt 4 and Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 drivers in the correct order.

Can I add more DDR4 3200 memory later, or is the 32 GB soldered?

The spec sheet lists zero available memory slots, so the 32 GB DDR4 3200 is not user-expandable.
