Mobile workstation with ISV certification

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a 17.3" mobile workstation built for professional applications. It runs Windows 7 Professional on an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor with 8GB of DDR4 memory. An NVIDIA Quadro M620M GPU drives the FHD IPS display. Storage combines a 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD with a 1TB hard drive for capacity and speed.

Suited for legacy ISV workloads.

This system suits engineers and designers who rely on ISV-certified software that still supports Windows 7 Professional. The Quadro graphics and dual-drive layout handle 3D rendering and large datasets in certified workflows. Buyers who require a modern operating system with ongoing security updates should consider other platforms.

Dual-drive storage with PCIe NVMe boot drive

The storage subsystem pairs a 256GB PCIe NVMe solid-state drive for fast boot and application load times with a 1TB hard disk drive for bulk data. This configuration decides whether the laptop can hold active project files on flash storage while archiving larger libraries on the mechanical drive.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the ThinkPad P71 get when the i7-7700HQ runs at 3.8 GHz all day?

The quad-core i7-7700HQ tops out at 3.8 GHz; the P71 chassis uses dual fans and copper heat pipes to move that heat out the rear vents, so sustained loads stay audible but not intrusive.

What must I already own to use the 256 GB NVMe drive and 1 TB hard drive together?

Both drives are factory-installed inside the 20HK chassis; the only extra you need is a 64-bit Windows 7 Pro licence key if you plan a clean reinstall.

Will my older USB 3.0 dock and VGA monitor work with the P71's ports?

The P71 keeps full-size HDMI, mini-DisplayPort and USB 3.0 Type-A sockets, so a USB 3.0 dock and a VGA monitor via an HDMI-to-VGA adapter connect without extra drivers.
