Business laptop with 48GB DDR4

The Lenovo Thinkpad T14 Gen 2 is a new business laptop equipped with an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, 48GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD. It runs Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon out of the box. The 14.0 inch Full HD IPS display offers a 1920x1080 resolution without touchscreen support.

Connectivity bundle for office workflows

Two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, HDMI, a micro SD reader and a Gigabit Ethernet jack cover docks, monitors and wired networks. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 handle wireless peripherals. A 720p webcam and combo audio jack support video calls. The 65W power supply and 50WHr battery are included.

Standard chassis fits common bags

At 12.9 x 8.9 x 0.70 inches and 3.23lb the unit slides into typical 14 inch sleeves without forcing. RAM is soldered so the 48GB capacity cannot be changed later. The SSD uses a standard M.2 slot for future storage upgrades. Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon installs drivers automatically; proprietary Wi-Fi firmware is the only common post-install step.

Questions about this item

Will the 48GB DDR4 memory need to be upgraded later?

The 48GB DDR4 SO-DIMM configuration fills both slots, so any future increase requires replacing the existing modules rather than adding to them.

What limits sustained performance on the i5-1135G7?

The 2.40GHz base clock with 4.2GHz turbo and 8MB cache will hit thermal constraints inside the 14.0" chassis before power delivery becomes the bottleneck.

How loud and hot does the 50WHr battery system get during all-day use?

The 65W power supply and integrated 50WHr Li-Polymer battery support typical business workloads with moderate fan noise and warm palm-rest temperatures under continuous load.
