14.0" Touch Display with AMD Ryzen 7 8840U

This Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 combines a 14.0 inch touchscreen IPS panel at 1920 x 1200 resolution with an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor. The eight-core CPU and 32GB of DDR5 5600 memory suit professionals who need responsive multitasking and direct screen interaction in a compact gray chassis. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed for immediate deployment.

Upgrade from 16GB or non-touch models

Moving to this configuration adds 32GB of dual-channel DDR5 memory and a 10-point touch display, removing the bottlenecks seen on 16GB soldered systems when running virtual machines or large datasets. The jump is worth it when your workflow demands simultaneous containers, heavy browser tabs, and pen or finger input without an external monitor.

Sustained load on integrated AMD Radeon 780M

The AMD Radeon 780M graphics share system memory, so prolonged 3D or compute tasks draw from the same 5600 MT/s pool as the CPU. Dual Thunderbolt 4 ports and HDMI 2.1 allow external GPU enclosures or additional displays when the integrated engine reaches its thermal ceiling during extended render or encode sessions.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.0 inch chassis have an open SO-DIMM slot to add more DDR5 5600 memory?

Both DDR5 5600 slots are occupied by the 16 GB x 2 configuration, so no slot is free for an upgrade.

Which driver or BIOS step is often missed when reinstalling Windows 11 Pro on the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U platform?

The AMD chipset and Radeon 780M graphics drivers must be installed after the OS, otherwise the integrated GPU falls back to a basic Microsoft driver.

When the 512 GB SSD reaches its write endurance limit, what replacement form factor does the motherboard accept?

The board accepts a single M.2 2280 SSD; the 512 GB drive can be swapped for a larger capacity M.2 2280 module.
