ThinkPad T460 with 2 TB NVMe SSD

The ThinkPad T460 is a 14.0-inch FHD laptop built for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine with ample solid-state storage. It ships with a fresh 2 TB M.2 NVMe PCIe drive and 8 GB of DDR3 memory, ready for office workloads and multi-tasking.

Dual-core U-series limits

The Intel Core i5-6300U runs at 2.40 GHz with a 3.00 GHz turbo across two cores, so sustained heavy compute will hit thermal and power ceilings quickly. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles only light media and basic display output, not modern 3-D workloads.

32 GB memory ceiling

Two SODIMM slots support a maximum of 32 GB of DDR3, which caps future upgrades for users who run virtual machines or large datasets. Buyers who need more than 32 GB of RAM should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Is the 2 TB NVMe PCIe SSD the only drive or can I add a second one?

The laptop ships with a single 2 TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD and has no 2.5-inch bay, so additional internal storage would require replacing this drive.

How does the i5-6300U at 2.40 GHz with Turbo to 3.00 GHz perform in everyday workloads?

The dual-core processor handles web browsing, office apps and video playback smoothly; sustained heavy tasks will throttle toward the base clock once thermal limits are reached.

Does the M.2 slot run at full NVMe PCIe speed or is it limited?

The specification lists the SSD as NVMe PCIe, indicating the slot supports the protocol at its native rate.
