Business laptop with Windows 7 Pro

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14.0-inch business laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. It uses an Intel Core i5-8250U processor with a base frequency of 1.60 GHz and a maximum turbo of 3.40 GHz. The system includes 12 GB of DDR4 memory and a 500 GB SSD. The matte IPS display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Suits legacy-software users.

This configuration fits organisations that must keep a certified Windows 7 environment for specialised applications. The fingerprint reader and 21 MIL-SPEC tests support secure, mobile deployment. Buyers who require a supported operating system with ongoing security updates cannot use this unit as supplied. The 64-bit architecture and Thunderbolt capability do not change the OS status.

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit operating system

The pre-installed OS is the single factor that determines whether this laptop meets a purchase requirement. Windows 7 Professional 64-bit reaches end-of-support status, so the machine is only appropriate where that specific version is mandated. All other specifications serve that fixed software baseline.

Questions about this item

How does the 3.4 GHz turbo speed translate to everyday workloads?

The Intel Core i5-8250U reaches 3.4 GHz on short bursts, so compiling code or opening large spreadsheets finishes quicker while the 12 GB DDR4 keeps multiple apps resident.

What does Thunderbolt 3 at 40 Gbps actually allow me to connect?

A single USB-C port drives two 4K displays, fast external storage and charges the laptop simultaneously through the Thunderbolt 3 controller.

Will the 14.0 inch chassis fit my existing T-series dock?

The T480s uses the same mechanical docking connector as other T-series models, so compatible docks snap on without an adapter.
