Business laptop for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and an Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.90GHz. Sixteen gigabytes of memory and a 256GB drive support everyday office workloads. The 15.0-inch display provides a comfortable workspace for documents and video calls.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

The ultra-low-voltage Core i7-8650U keeps heat output modest during typical productivity tasks. Fan activity stays quiet while browsing, streaming or editing spreadsheets. Power draw remains low enough to extend time away from a charger.

Windows 10 Pro and memory configuration

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit enables domain join, BitLocker and remote desktop without extra licences. The 16GB RAM allowance lets you keep multiple browser tabs and business apps open simultaneously. The 256GB solid-state drive accelerates boot and application launch times.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB M.2 drive, and which step do people often miss?

Insert the drive at an angle into the M.2 slot, secure it with the single screw, then verify it appears in the BIOS boot order before installing Windows 10 Pro.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB memory need later?

The 16GB RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded; if capacity becomes insufficient, the only option is replacing the entire system board.

What limit appears first during sustained heavy workloads on the Core i7-8650U?

The 15W TDP envelope causes the 1.90GHz base clock to throttle quickly, so sustained performance drops to maintain thermal limits.
