Ready for business travel

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14.0 inch mainstream laptop running Windows 10 Pro. It suits mobile professionals who need a durable chassis tested against 21 MIL-SPEC standards. The matte IPS display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input. A match-on-chip fingerprint reader and webcam cover add physical security for sensitive work environments.

Storage and memory limits

The 128GB SSD and 8GB DDR4 RAM handle everyday office applications and web browsing comfortably. Larger media libraries, virtual machines or heavy multitasking will quickly exceed the available capacity. The single drive bay and soldered memory mean internal upgrades are not practical for most users. Cloud storage or external drives become necessary for growing data sets.

Thermals and power in use

The Intel Core i5-8250U runs at 1.60 GHz base with turbo up to 3.40 GHz inside a chassis weighing 2 to 2.9 lbs. Integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics keep heat output modest during typical productivity tasks. Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C delivers up to 40 Gbps for docks or external GPUs when extra performance is needed. Fan noise stays low under light loads.

Questions about this item

Will the 1.60 GHz Intel Core i5-8250U keep up with my older USB 2.0 peripherals when I plug them into the four USB ports?

The laptop provides four USB ports that are backward-compatible with USB 2.0 devices, so your existing peripherals will work at their native speeds.

How can I verify the 14" 1920 x 1080 IPS matte panel and the Intel UHD 620 graphics are performing correctly after first boot?

Open Windows Display Settings to confirm the native 1920 x 1080 resolution is selected, then run the built-in DirectX Diagnostic Tool to verify the Intel UHD 620 adapter is active and error-free.

Does the box include a Thunderbolt 3 cable or do I need to buy one separately to use the 40 Gbps USB-C port?

The system ships with the laptop, AC adapter and documentation only; a Thunderbolt 3 cable for the USB-C port is not included and must be purchased separately.
