ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5 14 WQHD

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5 is a 14.0 inch ultrabook with a 2560 x 1440 IPS display, Intel Core i7-7500U processor up to 3.5 GHz, 500GB SSD and 8GB memory. It ships new with Windows 7 Professional and includes a 4G LTE WWAN card for mobile broadband. Carbon-fibre reinforced chassis passes 12 military-grade requirements and more than 200 durability tests while weighing 2.49 lbs.

USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 charging check

Verify that your existing USB-C charger or dock supports Thunderbolt 3 power delivery so the laptop can charge over the single Type-C port. Confirm your peripherals work with Bluetooth 4.1 and standard USB-A ports since the system provides four USB connections. Ensure any external monitor accepts the native 2560 x 1440 resolution over the available video output.

Fanless idle and 40Gbps Thunderbolt load

In typical office use the ultrabook runs silent at idle with the fingerprint reader active and WWAN connected. Under sustained Thunderbolt 3 traffic up to 40Gbps the cooling system spins up but remains within the thermal envelope designed for the carbon-fibre chassis. The 500GB SSD and 8GB memory draw minimal power, helping the 2.49 lb frame stay cool on a lap or tray table.
