14" FHD laptop with i5-8350U

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon sixth generation is a 14.0 inch non-touch laptop with a 1920 x 1080 display. It runs on an Intel Core i5-8350U processor with a 1.70 GHz base frequency and 3.60 GHz turbo. The system includes 16GB DDR3 memory and a new 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. No operating system is installed.

Suits mobile professionals, not gamers

This ultraportable fits professionals who need a lightweight 14 inch chassis with quad-core performance for office applications and video calls. The Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles external displays and general productivity. Buyers who want discrete graphics for gaming or rendering should look at something else. The soldered 16GB DDR3 prevents any memory upgrade.

Soldered 16GB DDR3 maximum

The memory is fixed at 16GB DDR3 with zero slots for expansion and a 16 GB maximum supported limit. This specification decides whether the laptop can handle your workload long term. If your applications demand more memory, this unit cannot be upgraded. The 1TB NVMe SSD provides fast storage but does not compensate for the RAM ceiling.

Questions about this item

Will the 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD fit the existing slot?

The laptop ships with a 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD already installed in its single M.2 slot.

What is the correct way to install an operating system on a unit that has none?

Create a bootable USB installer for Windows or Linux, boot from it and install to the 1TB NVMe SSD; the UEFI firmware detects the drive automatically.

Can the 16GB DDR3 memory be upgraded later?

No, the 16GB DDR3 is soldered and the maximum supported memory is 16GB, so no upgrade is possible.
