ThinkPad X1 Carbon G9 14 laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon G9 is a 14.0" laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor running at 3.00 GHz. It comes with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD, running Windows 10 Pro out of the box. The non-touch display offers a 1920 x 1200 resolution in a 16:10 aspect ratio, suited for professionals who need a portable daily driver.

Thermals and power in normal use

Intel Evo certification indicates the system meets responsiveness and readiness targets for typical workloads. Rear venting helps move heat away from the user during sustained tasks. Integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics share system memory, keeping overall power draw modest for office applications and media playback. The larger battery supports all-day use away from a power outlet.

Build quality and daily connections

The chassis stays ultrathin and ultralight at 2.4900 weight units, making it easy to carry between meetings. A wider touchpad and 16:10 screen give more room for navigation and document viewing. An integrated webcam supports video calls without extra peripherals. Port selection follows the ultralight design, so users relying on multiple legacy connectors may need a dock or adapter.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 512 GB SSD in the Thinkpad X1 Carbon G9 and what step is commonly missed?

The 512 GB SSD is factory installed; no user installation is required. The step people miss is confirming Windows 10 Pro recognises the full capacity after the first boot.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16 GB memory and Intel Iris Xe Graphics need later?

The 16 GB memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded. The Intel Iris Xe Graphics uses shared system memory, so keeping the OS and drivers current is the only ongoing maintenance.

What limit appears first on the Core i7 1185G7 at 3.00 GHz under sustained load?

The 14.0 inch chassis relies on rear venting for cooling, so thermal throttling on the Core i7 1185G7 is the first limit reached during prolonged heavy workloads.
