Business Ultrabook with 1 TB storage

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a 14.0 inch Windows 10 Pro laptop built around an Intel Core i7-7600U processor that reaches 3.9 GHz. It carries 8 GB of memory and a 1 TB SSD in a carbon-fibre reinforced chassis tested against 12 military-grade requirements and more than 200 durability checks. Weighing 2.49 lbs, it suits professionals who need a light yet rugged machine for daily productivity.

Thunderbolt 3 port adds docking and charging

A single USB-C connector with Thunderbolt 3 supplies up to 40 Gbps of data bandwidth and handles charging, so one cable can drive external displays and peripherals. The package also includes a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello sign-in and Bluetooth 4.1 for wireless accessories. These features reduce the number of adapters a traveller must carry.

Soldered 8 GB RAM and single SSD slot limit

Memory is not upgradeable beyond the factory 8 GB, and the design provides only one internal SSD location, so storage growth requires replacing the drive rather than adding a second. The 2560 x 1440 non-touch IPS panel offers sharp visuals but draws more power than a lower-resolution screen, which can shorten battery runtime on long flights.

Questions about this item

Will the 8GB of memory need to be upgraded later?

The 8GB is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded; choose a higher-capacity model if you anticipate needing more memory.

What thermal limit appears first when the Core i7-7600U runs at 3.9 GHz continuously?

The processor will hit its thermal throttle point before the 40Gbps Thunderbolt 3 link or the 2560x1440 panel reach any sustained-use ceiling.

How loud does the fan get and how hot does the chassis feel during an all-day workload?

The carbon-fibre chassis passes 200 durability tests and 12 military-grade requirements, so surface temperatures and acoustic output stay within the limits validated by that testing.
