14-inch WQHD Ultrabook for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a 14-inch laptop built around an Intel Core i7-7600U processor with a WQHD IPS display at 2560 x 1440 resolution. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and includes a fingerprint reader for biometric sign-in. The carbon-fibre reinforced chassis meets 12 military-grade requirements and passes more than 200 durability tests while weighing 2.49 lbs.

1TB PCIe NVMe storage and 8GB memory headroom

A 1TB PCIe NVMe solid-state drive provides fast boot and application load times with ample space for large project files and local media libraries. The 8GB of system memory handles typical multitasking across office suites, web browsers and video conferencing without paging. Memory is not user-upgradable, so workloads that regularly exceed 8GB will hit a hard ceiling.

Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C changes dock

Two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 support deliver up to 40Gbps data throughput and allow charging from compatible adapters or monitors, reducing the number of cables needed at a desk. Bluetooth 4.1 connects peripherals such as mice and headsets without a dongle. The traditional ThinkPad UltraNav touchpad and pointing stick remain the primary input methods, as the display is non-touch.

Questions about this item

Will the 14" WQHD display at 2560x1440 scale correctly when docked to my older 1080p monitor over Thunderbolt?

Thunderbolt 3 supports dual 4K output so a single 1080p panel will run at native resolution without scaling issues.

How can I confirm the Intel Core i7-7600U is hitting its 3.9 GHz turbo under load?

Open Task Manager Performance tab or a tool like HWMonitor and watch the clock speed rise to 3.9 GHz during a sustained heavy workload.

Does the box include the USB-C power adapter and are any cables missing for Thunderbolt 3 speeds?

The laptop ships with its USB-C charger; a Thunderbolt 3 certified cable for 40 Gbps data or dual 4K video is not included and must be purchased separately.
