LG A5 4K Digital Signage Media Player

The LG A5 series media player combines 4K Ultra HD video playback with a built-in hard drive enclosure for digital signage deployments. It targets installers who need a single device to store and display content on televisions, projectors or monitors in retail, hospitality or education venues.

2-in-1 HDD enclosure and auto-playback features

The integrated drive bay accepts a hard drive so media files remain inside the unit, removing the need for external storage. Firmware provides automatic playback, endless looping and resume from the last stopping point, plus configurable 90, 180 or 270 degree video rotation for portrait or landscape screens.

4096x2304 resolution at 30 fps over HDMI

The player decodes H.265/HEVC and H.264/AVC files up to 4096x2304 pixels at 30 frames per second and outputs them through a single HDMI interface. Buyers whose content exceeds this resolution or frame rate, or who require multiple simultaneous video zones, will need a different solution.

Questions about this item

Will the internal hard-drive enclosure need any maintenance such as fan cleaning or drive replacement?

The unit has no user-serviceable cooling fan; the hard drive itself is the only moving part and can be swapped by opening the enclosure if it fails.

What playback bitrate ceiling will be reached first during continuous 4K looping?

The decoder tops out at 200 mbps for H.265/HEVC or H.264/AVC streams at 4096x2304@30fps.

How much heat and noise does the player produce when running 24/7 digital-signage loops?

Passive aluminium chassis runs silent; surface temperature stays warm but within safe limits for continuous operation.
