24x DVD burner for legacy media

The Lite-On iHAS324-99 is a 5.25 inch internal drive that writes DVD+R and DVD-R at 24x speed. It also supports dual-layer DVD media at 12x and CD-R at 48x. The black tray-load unit suits desktop builds that still require optical read or write capability for physical discs.

Check SATA port and bay clearance

Verify the motherboard has a free SATA data connector and the power supply provides a matching SATA power plug. The chassis must accommodate a standard 5.25 inch half-height bay with sufficient depth for the tray mechanism. No extra drivers are required for modern operating systems.

Fits standard optical bay with SATA cables

The drive mounts in any 5.25 inch bay using four M3 screws and connects through a single SATA data cable to the board. It draws power from a standard SATA power connector, leaving older IDE headers unused. The 2 MB buffer helps sustain write speeds during disc creation.

Questions about this item

Does the drive ship with cables, screws or burning software, or must I buy them separately?

The unit is the bare 5.25" black tray drive only; SATA data and power cables, mounting screws and any authoring software are not included.

All listed write speeds peak at 24x for DVD±R and 48x for CD-R — is there a slower variant I should consider instead?

The iHAS324-99 is a single SKU with those maximum speeds; no alternative speed grade exists for this model number.

What does the 24x DVD+R rating actually deliver when the drive is installed in a desktop PC?

It means the burner can write a single-layer DVD+R at up to 24x CAV, limited in practice by disc media code, system buffer throughput and thermal throttling.
