SMART-BURN and SMART-X technologies included

SMART-BURN prevents buffer underrun errors and automatically adjusts the writing strategy for the inserted CD-R or CD-RW disc. SMART-X enables high-speed digital audio extraction and VCD data extraction. The drive also supports over-burning up to 99-minute discs and multiple write modes including TAO, SAO, DAO and raw mode.

ATAPI/E-IDE limits transfer speed and compatibility

The parallel ATAPI/E-IDE interface caps sustained throughput well below modern serial bus speeds and requires a motherboard with a compatible 40-pin connector.
