What this adapter does

This two-pack of USB-A male to USB-C female adapters lets you keep using existing USB-A chargers or ports with devices that only ship a USB-C cable. It is aimed at phone owners who want MagSafe or CarPlay support without buying a new power brick. The white finish matches Apple accessories and the pair gives a spare for home and car.

Practical limits of the USB-A link

Data transfer tops out at 480 Mbps, so large file moves will be slower than a native USB-C connection. Charging current is capped at 3 A and the supplier notes the adapter is not suitable for laptops. CarPlay only works when Siri is enabled on the iPhone, and MagSafe needs a USB-A charger rated above 15 W.

Build and everyday use

Each unit weighs 10 grams and measures 1.47 in by 0.74 in by .34 in, so it adds almost no bulk to a key-ring or bag pocket. The rigid moulding protects the USB-C socket from side loads when plugged into a car port or wall outlet. Two adapters in the pack mean one can stay in the vehicle while the other travels with the charger.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the single adapter or the 2-pack for my MagSafe charger and CarPlay needs?

The listing supplies two white adapters in one pack, so you have a spare for home and car without buying twice.

What does the 480 Mbps figure mean when I plug a USB-C flash drive into my PC?

Data transfers run at USB 2.0 speeds up to 480 Mbps, which is fine for documents and photos but not for large video files.

Will the USB-A to USB-C interface limit charging to 3 A with my 15 W charger?

The adapter passes up to 3 A, so a 15 W USB-A charger can deliver its full output to a MagSafe puck or phone.
