High-Strength Threadlocker for Metal Fasteners

Loctite 271 is a red anaerobic adhesive that locks threaded assemblies up to one inch in diameter on brass, bronze, copper, iron, steel and similar metals. The liquid formula tolerates light oil contamination and fixtures in five minutes for immediate handling.

Suited for permanent assemblies that must resist

Mechanics securing critical bolts on heavy equipment will value the high breakaway torque. Users who need removable fasteners or who work primarily with plastics should select a lower-strength grade instead.

Red 271 formulation delivers 150 in-lb breakaway

This single strength figure defines the holding power; if the application requires less holding force or easier disassembly, a different threadlocker colour is required. The product meets ASTM D-5363 and MIL-S-46163-A standards and is UL Listed.

Questions about this item

Will Loctite 271 red threadlocker bond reliably to the brass and steel fasteners I already use?

Yes, the product is formulated for brass, bronze, copper, iron, manganese, Monel, nickel and steel, so it works with those existing materials.

How can I confirm the 271 threadlocker has cured properly after the 5-minute working time?

The cured joint should resist a breakaway torque of 150 in-lb, which you can verify with a calibrated torque wrench on the assembled fastener.

Does the 10 mL bottle include the Loctite 7649 primer or must I purchase it separately?

The bottle contains only the threadlocker; the compatible 7649 primer is sold separately if your application requires it.
