2.5" SATA Enclosure with Case

The LORDWORLD 2189U3 enclosure lets you connect a 2.5 inch SATA HDD or SSD up to 6 TB to a USB 3.0 port on a PC, laptop, router or PS4. It accepts drives 7 mm or 9.5 mm thick and supports UASP for faster transfers when both drive and host support it. The bundle includes a textured EVA carry case with an inner size of 5.5 by 3.5 by 1 inches and weighing 110 g.

Suits drive recovery and portable storage

This kit works well for anyone needing to read an old SATA drive on modern hardware without installing drivers, and the case protects the drive plus cables or a power bank up to 5.9 by 3.3 inches. It is not suited for users who need to connect M.2 drives, drives thicker than 9.5 mm, or who require an internal mounting solution.

USB 3.0 interface with UASP

The enclosure uses a USB 3.0 connection rated at 5 Gbps, and UASP can raise throughput by 20 percent over standard USB 3.0 when the host also supports it. This single interface choice determines whether the enclosure matches your available ports and desired transfer speed.

Questions about this item

Which enclosure version should I pick for a 9.5 mm SATA drive up to 6TB?

The 2189U3 model accepts both 7mm and 9.5 mm SATA I/II/III HDDs and SSDs up to 6TB, so a single version covers all those drives.

What does the 5Gbps USB 3.0 rating mean when I copy files to a PC?

It sets a theoretical ceiling of 5Gbps; real-world throughput depends on the drive and host, and UASP support can raise practical speeds by about 20% over standard USB 3.0.

Does the USB 3.0 interface limit performance with a fast SATA III SSD?

Yes, the USB 3.0 link caps at 5Gbps, so a SATA III SSD that can exceed 6Gbps will be bottlenecked by the enclosure connection.
