Steel Bookcase with Adjustable Shelves

The Lorell 59695 is a six-shelf steel bookcase finished in charcoal. It suits offices, classrooms or home studies that need sturdy, open storage for books, binders and display items.

Replacing Flimsy or Fixed-Height Units

It replaces bookcases that sag under weight or that force a single shelf spacing. The jump is worth it when you need each shelf to hold up to 200 lb and want to reposition shelves in one-inch increments to match changing storage needs.

Limits of Welded Steel Construction

The welded frame and powder-coat finish resist daily wear but the unit is not designed for wall mounting or for loads beyond the rated shelf capacity. The fixed bottom shelf sets the lowest storage height and cannot be moved.

Questions about this item

How much floor space does the 34-1/2" wide by 12-5/8" deep steel bookcase require?

The unit occupies a footprint of 34-1/2 inches wide by 12-5/8 inches deep. Ensure the intended location accommodates these exact dimensions plus clearance for opening adjacent doors or drawers.

How do I adjust the shelves on the LLR59695, and what is the common mistake?

Shelves adjust in 1-inch increments using the welded side slots. The common mistake is attempting to move the fixed bottom shelf, which is permanently welded and not adjustable.

When should I inspect the powder-coat finish on the 200 lb capacity shelves for wear?

Inspect the powder-coat finish annually for chips or scratches, especially on shelves holding the full 200 lb load. Touch up any damaged areas promptly to prevent corrosion on the welded steel construction.
