42" Lateral File Cabinet

The Lorell 60438 is a 42" wide lateral file cabinet designed for office environments that need secure, high-density document storage. Its two drawers accept letter, legal and A4 hanging files side-to-side, making it suitable for administrators, records clerks and small-business owners who handle mixed paper sizes daily.

Drawer Interlock and Filing Limits

An interlock mechanism prevents more than one drawer from opening at a time, reducing the risk of the cabinet tipping forward. The design meets or exceeds applicable ANSI/BIFMA standards, so the unit is rated for the load and cycle counts defined by those standards and not for heavier or more frequent use beyond them.

Two-Drawer Capacity and Security

Two full-width drawers on ball-bearing slides provide the filing volume of a standard two-drawer lateral cabinet; a third drawer tier is not included, so archival growth beyond this capacity requires additional units. A core-removable lock with dual locking bars secures both drawers simultaneously, while magnetic label holders allow quick re-labelling as file categories change.
