48-inch Cherry Return Shell

The Lorell 69421 is a 48-inch wide return shell finished in cherry laminate. It provides a 24-inch deep worksurface for extending a primary desk or creating a corner layout. The one-inch thick top uses 3mm PVC edges for durability. It ships new and assembles as a single unit.

Left or Right Hand Configuration

This shell replaces a fixed-side return by allowing left or right placement decided during assembly. The jump is worth it when a workstation must adapt to different room layouts or user handedness. Adjustable floor guides help level the piece on uneven floors. Two top grommets route cables cleanly.

24-inch Deep Worksurface Capacity

The 24-inch depth comfortably holds a monitor, keyboard and reference material side by side. It runs out when large dual-monitor arms or deep drafting equipment demand more front-to-back space. The 29.5-inch height matches standard desk height for a flush connection. Grommet placement keeps cords off the work surface.

Questions about this item

How much floor space does the 48" wide by 24" deep return shell occupy?

The unit measures 48 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 29.5 inches high, so it needs a clear rectangle of at least 48 by 24 inches on the floor.

Which step must be decided during assembly because it cannot be changed later?

You must choose left-hand or right-hand placement while building the shell; the configuration is fixed once assembled.

What part of the cord-management system may need attention after extended use?

The two grommet holes in the 1-inch laminate top can wear or crack over time and may require replacement grommet inserts.
