40G QSFP+ Active Optical Cable

This LR-LINK active optical cable delivers 40G Ethernet connectivity over a 5 metre or 16 foot reach. It uses four full-duplex channels running at up to 11.3 Gbit/s each for an aggregate 45.2 Gbit/s throughput. The QSFP+ form factor is hot-pluggable and compliant with the IEEE 802.3ba standard.

VCSEL array and low power draw

The cable employs reliable VCSEL array technology over multimode fibre, consuming less than 1.5 W from a single 3.3 V supply. Compared with traditional direct-attach copper cables, the optical construction is lighter and has a smaller diameter, easing cable routing inside the rack. Standard lengths of 3, 15 and 30 metres are also available.

Hot-plug installation and temperature limits

Installation is a simple hot-plug into any compliant QSFP+ port with no tools required. The commercial temperature range spans 0 to 70 °C and an industrial range of -40 to +85 °C is specified, so deployments outside climate-controlled rooms need the industrial-rated variant. Ensure the switch port supports 40G Ethernet IEEE 802.3ba to avoid link negotiation issues.
