LUOM DP28 DisplayPort 1.4 cable 3.3ft

The LUOM DP28 is a male-to-male DisplayPort 1.4 cable measuring 3.3 feet in grey. It connects a DisplayPort 1.4 source such as a PC or laptop to a compatible monitor or TV. The cable supports HBR3 bandwidth of 32.4Gbps and meets VESA certification standards.

Practical limits of the DisplayPort 1.4 interface

DisplayPort 1.4 carries up to 32.4Gbps using HBR3 signalling and DSC 1.2 compression for visually lossless 3:1 transport. The standard tops out at 8K resolution at 60Hz with 10-bit colour HDR or 4K at 144Hz. Backward compatibility extends to DisplayPort 1.3, 1.2 and 1.1 devices.

Replaces older DisplayPort cables when higher

This cable upgrades from earlier DisplayPort leads that cannot sustain 4K at 144Hz, 2K at 240Hz or 8K at 60Hz. The jump is worth it when driving monitors that require HBR3 bandwidth for high frame-rate gaming or HDR workflows. It is not for setups limited to 1080p at 60Hz or legacy 1.2-only ports.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 3.3ft length or a longer cable for my 4K 144Hz monitor?

The 3.3ft length keeps signal loss minimal for 4K at 144Hz. Longer runs can reduce bandwidth headroom, so pick the shortest cable that reaches your GPU to monitor path.

Does the 32.4Gbps rating mean I get 8K 60Hz without compression on my RTX 3080?

8K at 60Hz with 10-bit HDR fits within 32.4Gbps using DSC 1.2 visually lossless compression. The card and monitor must both support DSC for that mode to work.

What does HBR3 on this DisplayPort 1.4 cable actually limit in practice?

HBR3 caps the link at 32.4Gbps total bandwidth. That ceiling sets the maximum combination of resolution, refresh rate and colour depth the cable can carry reliably.
