Purpose & Audience

This LUOM DP28 DisplayPort 1.4 cable connects a graphics card or laptop to a monitor using a male-to-male link. It is built for users who need 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz or 2K at 240 Hz from a single cable. It is not suited for setups that require longer runs than the supplied 2 m length.

Critical Spec

The cable carries VESA HBR3 certification at 32.4 Gbps and supports DSC 1.2 visually lossless compression. That bandwidth figure is the single number that determines whether your target resolution and refresh rate will work.

Installation & Common Issues

Plug the male connectors into matching DisplayPort sockets; the latch clicks to confirm a secure fit. The most frequent issue is forgetting to enable the higher refresh rate in the OS display settings after connection.

Questions about this item

What does the 32.4 Gbps bandwidth actually deliver when the cable is connected to a monitor and GPU?

It enables 8K resolution at 60 Hz with 10-bit colour HDR, 4K at 144 Hz, or 2K at 240 Hz using DSC 1.2 visually lossless compression and FEC forward error correction.

How does the DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 interface limit what resolutions and refresh rates I can run?

The HBR3 link caps at 32.4 Gbps, so the highest supported modes are 8K 60 Hz, 5K 60 Hz, 4K 144 Hz, 2K 240 Hz and 1080p 240 Hz, all with HDCP 2.2 and HDR10.

What physical clearance and connector type does the 2 m grey cable need to fit my setup?

It uses male-to-male DisplayPort 1.4 plugs on a 28 AWG tinned copper cable, requiring standard full-size DP ports on both the GPU and the display.
