Active DVI-D 25-pin male to VGA 15-pin female converter supports 1920×1200 @60Hz and 1080p @60Hz over 9.84 inches
This active converter bridges a DVI-D 25-pin male output to a VGA 15-pin female input. It draws power directly from the source port, so no external supply is needed. Compatible with desktops and laptops from major brands, it supports PC resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 at 60Hz and HDTV resolutions up to 1080p at 60Hz.
A passive cable only works when the graphics card outputs an analog signal through the DVI-I port. This active chipset converts digital DVI-D signals to analog VGA, making it the correct choice for modern DVI-D only outputs. The jump is worth it when your source lacks analog pins or when a passive dongle shows no image.
Plug the DVI-D male end into the computer and connect a standard VGA cable to the female end. The 9.84 inch tail reduces strain on the port. No drivers or software are required on any supported OS. Ensure the source is a true DVI-D digital output; the adapter cannot convert HDMI, DisplayPort or DVI-A signals.

The active converter measures 9.84 inches end-to-end, so allow at least that depth behind the DVI-D port plus room for the VGA cable's own bend radius.
No driver is required and no external power supply is needed; the converter draws power directly from the source device's DVI port and works immediately on plug-in.
The active chipset is built into the converter body and has no user-serviceable parts; if the unit fails to output a signal or shows artefacts across all supported resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 @60Hz, replace the whole adapter.
