What this adapter does

The LUOM LT01 is an active HDMI female to VGA male converter that adds a 3.5 mm stereo audio output. It accepts a digital HDMI source and produces an analogue VGA signal plus separate audio, allowing HDMI-only devices to drive VGA monitors or projectors without software setup.

Who it suits and who it does not

It suits users connecting a laptop, desktop, games console, media player or set-top box with an HDMI port to a VGA-equipped display while also extracting sound to speakers or headphones. It does not suit buyers who need a VGA-to-HDMI direction, digital-only outputs such as DisplayPort or DVI-D, or resolutions beyond 1080p.

The spec that decides fit

The adapter supports 720p and 1080p at HDMI 1.4 and requires an external HDMI cable to reach the source device. If the display or source cannot operate at those resolutions or the connection must carry HDCP-protected 4K content, this unit will not work.

Questions about this item

What resolution will I actually get when I plug this 1080p adapter into my monitor?

The adapter supports 720p and 1080p output, so your monitor will display at whichever of those two resolutions it prefers.

Which HDMI version does the adapter use and what does that limit?

It uses HDMI 1.4, which caps the signal to 1080p at standard refresh rates and enables 3D pass-through.

How much space does the dongle need behind my laptop or console?

The body is under one inch long, so it fits in tight ports without blocking adjacent connectors.
