What this switch does

The LUOM OZ8AB is an 8K bi-directional HDMI 2.1 switch that handles 2×1 switching or 1×2 splitting at up to 48 Gbps. It lets you route two sources to one display or one source between two displays, though both outputs cannot show an image at the same time. Gamers and home-cinema users get 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 120 Hz or 144 Hz, and 1080p at 240 Hz without swapping cables. It is not for installations that need simultaneous dual-display output or automatic source detection.

Build and daily connections

A compact aluminium-alloy chassis measures 5.91 by 2.36 by 0.79 inches and weighs 11.9 ounces, so it sits discreetly on a desk or behind a TV. Three HDMI ports — two inputs and one output that reverses roles in splitter mode — are selected by a tactile push button; there is no auto-switching. The unit requires the supplied DC 5 V power cable for stable operation, and manual changes on high-power sources may take three to six seconds to settle.

Included accessories and their effect

The box contains the switch, a DC 5 V power cable and a user manual. The dedicated power adapter ensures reliable 48 Gbps bandwidth for Dynamic HDR, VRR and full 4:4:4 chroma at 8K 60 Hz. No HDMI cables are bundled, so you must provide certified Ultra High Speed leads no longer than three metres to reach the advertised resolutions.
