The critical specification is the audio format support: uncompressed LPCM 2.0 plus compressed DTS and Dolby Digital at sample rates of 32, 44.1, 48, 96 and 192 kHz. It does not pass 7.1 channel Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby TrueHD, so buyers needing those formats must use HDMI instead.
