RCA-to-HDMI converter cable

The LUOM cable converts analogue composite video and stereo audio from a 3RCA source into a 1080P 60Hz HDMI signal. It targets owners of legacy consoles such as PS2, Xbox 360, Wii, NES, N64 or Sega Genesis, as well as VHS, VCR and DVD players who want to connect them to a modern television without a separate upscaler box.

Integrated cable lengths and USB power

A 56 inch RCA tail, 16 inch HDMI tail and 17 inch USB power lead are moulded into one assembly, removing the need for extra interconnects. The USB connector must be powered before the HDMI output becomes active, so a spare USB port or charger is required for daily use.

Analogue-only input and fixed output

The adapter accepts only CVBS composite signals in PAL, NTSC 3.58, NTSC 4.43, SECAM, PAL/M or PAL/N formats and scales them to a single 1080P 60Hz HDMI mode. It cannot process S-Video, component, RGB or any digital source, and it does not pass 3D or higher-resolution formats. Buyers needing HDMI-to-RCA conversion or multiple output resolutions should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the RCA-to-HDMI cable output 1080P at 60Hz, and is that the maximum resolution?

Yes, the built-in chip scales the composite signal up to 1080P at 60Hz and does not support higher resolutions or 3D.

What are the lengths of the integrated RCA, HDMI and USB power cables?

The fixed cables measure 56 inch (143 cm) for RCA, 16 inch (41 cm) for HDMI and 17 inch (43 cm) for USB power.

Is any driver installation required, and what power step is often missed?

No drivers are needed; the converter is plug-and-play, but the USB power cable must be connected first or the unit will not work.
